Abstract:
Based on the survey of 1938 land-expropriated laborers in Jiujiang and Xiangyang, this paper studies the influencing factors of land-expropriated female employment, and those of local non-agricultural employment and migrant employment from the perspectives of marriage status, family care and support, family labor force allocation, personal characteristics and peer effect. The main conclusion is: the disadvantaged position of land-expropriated female employment is a combined result of marriage status, family care and support, family labor force allocation, personal characteristics and peer effect. To implement the policy of employment equality between genders, two measures should be combined, both from within and outside the family. One is to construct a family support system for female employment while the other is to improve women’s human capital.
