Abstract This paper discusses the relationship between cross-domain talents of staff and the choice of IT governance pattern. It states that: if the business management personnel possesses the cross-domain talents,the firm should adopt the decentralized IT governance pattern; if the business management personnel does not possess the cross-domain talents,the firm should adopt the centralized IT governance pattern; if the IT professionals possesses the cross-domain talents,the firm should adopt the centralized IT governance pattern; if the IT professionals does not possess the cross-domain talents,the firm should adopt the decentralized IT governance pattern; if both have the cross-domain talents,the firm should adopt the mixed IT governance pattern; and the both sides should communicate and collaborate when they all do not have the cross-domain talents.
