Abstract:
Using the relevant data from 2000 to 2011 in China, this paper studies empirically the reverse spillover effect on domestic innovation capability of China’s Outward Foreign Direct Investment, and further analyzes its related factors. The test results show that China's OFDI has reverse spillover effect only on the domestic imitate innovation capability, but restrains the capabilities of independent innovation and secondary innovation, and ultimately has negative effect on the overall innovation capability, but they are not significant statistically. The influencing factors such as economic openness, financial development, infrastructure and R&D base play different roles. Finally, the paper puts forward some suggestions, such as encouraging technology-seeking OFDI, enhancing the global learning capabilities of OFDI enterprises and strengthening the development support system of the OFDI based on innovation capability.
