A Research on the Asymmetric Relationship between Executive Compensation and Luck

Abstract The paper researches the relationship between executive compensation and their luck by smapling the listing companies from 2001 to 2007. It is foud that executive compensation is positively associated with luck. During period of distinguishing industry overall performance declining, the relationship between executive compensation and luck is unsymmetrical, and this asymmetry exists only in the state-controlled companies. The establishment of the Remuneration Committee can effectively suppress the non-symmetry.
