Abstract The results of horizontal and vertical comparison show that the proportion of modern service which is technology-intensive and knowledge-intensive has been on the rise in developed countries, however, China is in a reverse situation. Using the data of 1982-2009, the authors adopt the co-integration theory and error correction model to make an empirical analysis of the relationship between the structure of service trade, physical capital accumulation, human capital accumulation and technological progress, put forward some relevant policy recommendations to achieve the transformation from “service quantity” to “service quality”
