Abstract Knowledge capability is the key for enterprises to attain open innovation successfully. It is a dynamic ability system that consists of creation capability, reformation capability, scanning capability, absorption capabitity, internalization ability, absorptive capability, etc. Different types of open innovation process have diverse demands for knowledge capability. Therefore, it’s necessary for the enterprises that implement open innovation to enhance their learning ability and relation ability through adjusting their strategy, structure and culture and other functions in order to cultivate their own knowledge capability and in turn improve the performance of open innovation
