Abstract Based on Beijing’s 1 ‰ floating population survey in 2006, the authors review the floating people’s wage level and its determinants. The authors divide the floating population into the two categories of non-employees and employees from the perspective of employment type (employer, self-support laborer and employee). The wage determining equation of non-employee floating population has the obvious property of sample self-selection, but the wage determining equation of employees doesn’t have the obvious property of sample self-selection In the regression equation, each variant follows the traditional empirical studies. The wage determinants of every type of floating population have the property of heterogeneity to a certain extent
