Abstract By employing the panel data from Chinese industrial sectors during 1997-2009, the author aims to study the impact of international trade on the wages of skilled and unskilled laborers in different industries. The result indicates that trade increased the wages of skilled laborers in high-tech industry but lowered the wages of unskilled laborers. Meanwhile, trade has also expanded the intra-industry wage gap between skilled and unskilled laborers. The effect of trade depends not only on the proficiency degree of skilled laborers but also on the technical level of the industry.
