Abstract:
From the information-based view, this paper applies the threshold regression model to examine the non-linear influence of consumer consumption on the quality of China’s economic growth. Results show that the residents consumption has a significant double threshold effect on the quality of economic growth. As the threshold value increases, the positive effect of consumer consumption strengthens too. The urban residents consumption has a stronger effect on the quality of economic growth than the rural residents, but at different threshold values, rural residents consumption exhibits significantly bigger differences in its impact than urban residents. This article provides some empirical evidence for the positive effect of informatization in enhancing Chinese residents’ consumption and promoting the quality of economic growth.
