Abstract Based on a micro-level panel data from 2001 to 2007,this paper analyzes the relationship between export intensity,absorptive capacity and productivity of Chinese exporters on firm-level heterogeneity.Our empirical study shows that Chinese exporters are more productive than non-exporters.More interestingly, exporters’ total factor productivity presents an inverted U-shape with the export intensity.Furthermore,we find exporters’ absorptive capacity will enhance their productivity and has a positive moderate effect on the relationship of export intensity and productivity.
