Abstract This paper analyzes and explores the personal factors affecting the migration with data from the survey conducted in Henan Province, China by sampling the migrant workers and rural farmers. It is found that age, gender, and marriage status jointly affect farmer’s migration. The impacts of other factors are only moderate economically. Some factors, such as education level and urban working skills, do not affect farmers’ migration very much, but significantly affect labor market performance of the rural migrant workers.
