Environmental Regulation, Opening to the Outside World and Regional Technology Innovation--An Empirical Research Base on the Panel Data from Nine Provinces and Areas In Inland Pan Pearl River District

Abstract Based on innovation environment and innovation theories, using the panel data model, the authors analyzed the influence of environmental regulation and opening to the outside world on the technology innovation of nine provinces and areas in inland pan Pearl River district. The empirical research results show that both S&T personnel and the level of environmental regulation have negative effect on the technology innovation of nine provinces in the inland Pan Pearl River District, both intramural expenditures on S&T activities and the level of regional economic development have positive influence on the technology innovation of the nine provinces and areas in the inland pan Pearl River district. The effect of exterior opening-up level is uncertain and FDI dependence has a negative impact on the technology innovation of the nine provinces and areas in the inland pan pearl River district. The effect of foreign trade dependence is positive but not significant
