Abstract Based on panel data model with variable intercept which is used widely, the authors made an empirical analysis of the determinants of Chinese service trade export to 29 economies, the total potential and structural potential. The result shows that the influence of spacial distance on Chinese service trade export is not notable; the dramatic fall in service trade export after the international financial crisis is the continuation of insufficient export; the total potential of export increases; the structural potential is complicated; the anti-financial crisis power of traditional service exports such as transportation and tourism is weaker; the emerging service exports such as insurance have stronger anti-risk ability. Therefore, when the related sectors and enterprises try to exploit export potential and prevent sustainable excess, they should take different development measures for different industries and different destination countries.
