An Analysis of the Temporal and Spatial Evolution and Factors of Economic Development in Provincial Center Cities ����A Case of Shandong Province

Abstract��
Using the method of principal component, the author makes an empirical analysis of temporal and spatial evolution of regional economic development in provincial center cities of Shandong province in recent twenty years, and the influence factor of the economic difference is also studied by adopting the method of multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that the regional economic differences in Shandong province is significant and the overall pattern of economic space shows a diminishing trend of northeast-southwest, the spatial pattern of economic development transfers from the original double cores Jinan-Qingdao to one high more poles, at last it shows a North high-South low and East high-West low spatial pattern. The important factors are the region policy, the talents and the infrastructures.
