Abstract In this paper, the writer adopts spatial econometric methods in combination with geographical weight matrix and economic weight matrix, and researches the growth effect of government procurement scale, taking the data of 31 provinces in China during 2001-2012 as samples. A conclusion contrary to traditional research is drawn that per capita GDP contribution to the growth of government procurement scale is not significant, while investment as an important explanatory variable of the government procurement scale has a good spatial spillover effect. Urbanization has a huge demonstration effect, and has significant spatial spillover effect on the growth of government procurement in the adjacent region. Finally, this paper puts forward policy recommendations to promote the growth and rational allocation of government procurement, and to improve the efficiency of government procurement resources, especially under the public private partnership model.
