Research on the Efficiency of Regional Economy in Henan Province Based on DEA

Abstract Based on the relative efficiency evaluation of data envelopment analysis (DEA), with 18 cities in Henan province as research object, the paper makes an empirical analysis on the efficiency of regional economy in Henan province. The result shows: In the aspect of effectiveness (DEA), the overall economic efficiency of six cities including Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Luohe, Nanyang, Zhoukou, Jiyuan is relatively optimal, so these cities are in DEA efficient state. In the aspect of economies of scale, the scale of eight cities including Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Luoyang, Luohe, Nanyang, Shangqiu, Zhoukou, Jiyuan is comparatively optimal. In the aspect of the projection analysis of production frontier, seven cities including Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Xuchang, Luohe, Nanyang, Zhoukou, Jiyuan have no input and output redundancy and are located on the production frontier. Some suggestions are proposed to enhance the efficiency of regional economy in Henan province, including transferring surplus labor, improving energy utilization, narrowing the income gap between urban and rural areas, and promoting scientific and technological innovation, strengthening regional cooperation, etc.
