A Research on the Impact of Urbanization on Relationship betweenDemographic Dividend and Economic Growth——An Empirical Analysis Based on Panel Threshold Regression Model

Abstract Based on the theoretical analysis, taking the panel data of 30 provinces during the period between 2000 and 2012, and using the panel threshold regression techniques, this paper tests the threshold effect between the demographic dividend and economic growth with the urbanization as the threshold variables. Results show that there is a significant three threshold effect between the demographic dividend and economic growth. In any threshold interval, the demographic dividend always can promote the economic growth evidently. With the improvement of urbanization, the promoting effect of the demographic dividend on the economic growth will be enhanced. Finally, this paper puts forward advices on how to make full use of demographic dividend in economic growth from the perspective of urbanization.
