Financial Development, Technological Progress and Regional Employment Structure Evolution ——An Empirical Study Based on China Eastern Provincial Panel Data

Abstract Based on China eastern 11 provinces’ panel data from 1996 to 2011, this paper constructs panel model to test the influence of financial development, technological progress on employment structure. The empirical results show: The improvement of financial development scale plays an inhibitory effect on the first and second industry employment structure. Both financial development scale and financial efficiency play promoting role on the employment of the third industry. Technological progress shows negative effects on the first industry employment, also plays a positive influence on the second and third industry employment. In addition, financial development and technological progress have different impact on employment structure in different province.
