Abstract This paper summarizes and analyzes literature about flight delays from five different aspects. It points out the three evolution trend of flight delay research, namely the combination of different courses, the refine of calculations of the factors and costs to flight delays, improvement of the remedy and services to flight delays. It is a system problem to decrease the rate of flight delay, which needs coordinate not only the relationship among airports,airlines,passengers and air regulation, and also air transportation and other means of transportation.
