Abstract The R&D activities play an important role on the regional economic growth with spillover effects among industries and regions. Based on the interregional input-output table of China in the year 2000, this paper researches the technological diffusion of R&D among industries and regions by computing the industry's technology multiplier. The results show that the industries with a low multiplier generate knowledge, whereas industries with a higher multiplier use knowledge. R&D mainly flows from technology producing industries to technology using industries. The industries' technological structure shares the similarities.
