Abstract After provincial manufacturing distribution is characterized from agglomeration level and type, SGMM is conducted to examine the empirical effect of agglomeration variables on regional economic growth by using dynamic panel data. It is shown that : concentration level has a positive effect on economic growth, not diversification but specialization is more conducive to economic growth, fierce competition resulted from diseconomies of small scale has hindered economic further development. Furthermore, it is found that the agglomeration effects among sectors with different technology are different and especially high-tech industry cluster doesn't play its expected role in economic growth.
