Abstract With an analysis of China's economic structure, it is found that structural imbalance is the major obstacle to overcome middle income trap in China. The gradual disappearance of the demographic dividend makes it hard for China's leap to high imcome country. It is advised that income gap be narrowed by adjusting structural imbalance with the reform of income distribution in way of collective wage bargaining system, improved social security system together with fiscal and taxation policies.
