Abstract
In order to find out the way openness affecting energy efficiency in Chinese manufacture industry, based on concept of energy Kuznets curve, the paper, through adopting the panel data of Chinese 25 industries from 2000 to 2011, empirically studies the influence of degree of openness on energy intensity. Result proves the existence of non-linear relationship. Specially speaking, there exist inverted U curve relationship between energy intensity and foreign trade dependency, and U curve relationship between energy intensity and FDI dependency. Therefore, the current downward trend of Chinese foreign trade dependency and upward trend FDI dependency for manufacture industry are positively affecting the improvement of energy efficiency.
